Dear Councillors, Dear Residents of Hajnówka,

It is with great satisfaction and a sense of responsibility that I inform you that we are commencing the implementation of the largest development project in the history of our city, entitled “Green Spirit of Activity. Hajnówka – A New Era of Development”.

This project has received funding under the Polish-Swiss City Development Programme – as one of only 19 selected throughout Poland. For us this is not only a reason for pride, but above all a commitment to wise and effective action for the future of Hajnówka.

I admit that the project is not easy and will require a considerable amount of work. Ahead of us lie three intensive years that will demand the involvement not only of the teams implementing the project, but also – and perhaps above all – the activity of the Residents. It is precisely together with you that we will develop solutions and concepts of activities that respond to the real needs of our community. This project is meant to serve the residents – and that is why the voice of the people of Hajnówka will be key in it.

I would like to express special thanks to the City Councillors for giving their approval to this ambitious undertaking. I am aware that it carries risks that give rise to significant concerns among you, which is normal before every major challenge. However, the undertaking also creates great opportunities, both for the local government and for our community. Your decision opens new development opportunities for Hajnówka – in the areas of education, entrepreneurship, the environment, social integration and safety.

In the coming period, open communication, dialogue and cooperation will be extremely important. Only by acting together – local government, residents, entrepreneurs and social organisations – can we fully utilise the potential of this project and truly influence the quality of life in our city.

At the same time, I would like to emphasise that in the process of implementing the project every voice matters – including critical ones. Diversity of opinions is a value that allows us to act better and more responsibly. I will work with particular commitment to ensure that all of you receive ongoing information related to the implementation of project activities. I believe that thanks to transparency and dialogue we will be able to enjoy the results of this undertaking together.

I would also like to inform you that I have received an invitation to the ceremonial signing of the project funding agreement, which will take place with the participation of the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy. This is an important moment confirming the rank and significance of our project on a national scale.

I believe that the “Green Spirit of Activity” will become an impulse for positive changes that we will all feel – today and in the future.
