WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?
Hajnówka is a unique town. Its strength lies not only in its proximity to the Białowieża Forest, but also in its cultural richness, local traditions, unique products, and, above all, its people – active, enterprising, and committed to the development of their small homeland.
It is precisely this belief in Hajnówka’s potential and the consistent work of many individuals and institutions that has driven us to intensively prepare for the past two years to secure funding for ambitious development projects. The Polish-Swiss Urban Development Program presented an opportunity for the town.
The result of these efforts is the “Green Spirit of Activity. Hajnówka – A New Era of Development” project, which received funding under the program. The Complete Project Proposal was highly rated by experts and was among only 19 best initiatives selected from 119 projects submitted by cities across Poland. This is a huge success for Hajnówka and confirmation that our development vision responds to the real needs of residents and contemporary challenges.
The project aims to implement comprehensive measures to support Hajnówka’s transformation into an environmentally friendly, innovative, and future-proof city. Key initiatives include the development of green infrastructure, improved energy efficiency, environmental protection initiatives, and strengthening the city’s social and economic potential.
The project’s outcomes will benefit Hajnówka residents, local entrepreneurs, social organizations, and public institutions.
The funding agreement was signed in April 2026. The project will run until March 2029, and its effects will benefit residents for many years to come, strengthening the city’s potential and improving the quality of life in Hajnówka.
