Support for People in Need of Help in Everyday Life and Work

The aim of the measure is to create a system in which people who need support can live more independently, develop their potential and actively participate in social and professional life. Because good social policy starts with the individual – their needs, capabilities and the right to an independent life.
“Golden Hand for Seniors”
Seniors will still be able to benefit from the already operating municipal programme “Golden Hand for Seniors”, under which minor repairs and household tasks are carried out. It is intended to help seniors live safely and independently in their own homes. Our goal is, together with the main recipients of the solution, to improve this mechanism by, among other things, offering new services that respond to their real needs.

A new place for support and activation
The construction of a Vocational Activation Facility with the functions of a Social Welfare Home aims to create conditions for providing comprehensive support to people in need of professional care/assistance and for carrying out activities related to the vocational activation of people with disabilities.
More independence for people with disabilities
Under the Comprehensive Social and Vocational Activation of People with Disabilities programme, participants will receive support tailored to their individual needs. The first stage will be a diagnosis of capabilities and needs and the preparation of Individual Independence and Vocational Activation Plans. Participants will then be able to benefit from, among other things, support from a psychologist and career counsellor, training classes and independent living training. An important element of the programme will be activation in training apartments, where participants will be able to develop the skills needed for more independent functioning.

Competent staff – better support
Training has also been planned for local government employees as well as staff of the Vocational Activation Facility and the Social Welfare Home. Topics will include, among others, care for seniors and the social and vocational activation of people with disabilities.
